About Bad Suns
Bad Suns is an American rock band hailing from Woodland Hills, California. The band formed in 2012 and currently consists of Christo Bowman, Gavin Bennett, and Miles Morris. All of the band members came from Los Angeles.
Bowman considers his start of music to have began early in life because he grew up with a lot of world music playing in the house. When he was 10, he grew interested in the guitar and his father introduced him to records from the 70’s and 80’s. Bowman reflects that this began with Elvis Costello, then to The Clash, and The Cure among others. These artists had a big impact on his development and interest in music as well as his song composition style.
In fact, the band’s first EP, Transpose, features angsty riffs that emulated the post-punk legends of the early 80’s.
Since then, the band has been performing music for several years and finally broke into film and television when they performed Mark Knopfler’s score from the Quibi exclusive short film Home Movie: The Princess Bride, which later aired in early summer 2020.
Today, the band have received several accolades including an inclusion in The Huffington Post’s list of 2014’s best releases with the band’s debut album, Language & Perspective. The Huffington POst called the album a “rare indie release with little excess amongst its singles.” In particular, the music video for “Salt” has been praised by Out magazine and MTV for depicting a transgender woman struggling with her identity and transition.
